18 km Route – Start on the Umhlanga Rocks Promenade, next to the Millennium Stage and run some quiet suburban tar roads and through the new fast developing Izinga Ridge for about 2km before turning onto the picturesque paths through the Forest and Sugar Cane fields. A viewpoint will highlight the beauty of the Umhlanga River Valley, trail runners will have Sibaya Casino on the left, the river below and the Indian Ocean on the horizon, plus the famous Hawaan Forest on the right.

The route includes a few small climbs and a short stretch on the beach sand. There is a knee deep river crossing, underneath the N2, and of course the famous and exciting lagoon crossing, 2km from the finish, to contend with. On the beach section the uMhlanga life savers will be on duty to assist anyone. There will be a water table, however, runners are still advised to carry extra water. The route is marked and race marshals will also be on duty.
